Having been putting a camera up to my eye or my eyeglasses since the 60s I now spend time looking around on the web to find photography and photographic information that delights my appetite for the result of careful viewing of the planet and its inhabitants. The article below details other instances of photos more manufactured than simply taken and then quality adjusted in terms of contrast, brightness and sharpness.
I haven't seen the procedures that newspapers use to check for manipulation. Nor the ground rules that are given to photographers, staffers and freelance, as to what the newspapers have decided is within the limits of adjustment for image quality and what lies out in the realm of manipulative fiction.
